INSPIRE STAGE PROGRAM

Meet Our Speakers

Tista Chakravarty Gannon

Head of Outreach Operations, General Medical Council

"Tista has worked in the service for over 20 years supporting survivors of abuse. She also co-leads the outreach team at the GMC and heads up our welcome to UK practice work to support doctors who qualified overseas. Besides leadership responsibilities, Tista's GMC role involves engaging with doctors, system partners and developing workshops on ethical standards. Prior to joining the GMC, Tista spent many years in stakeholder management, and worked full time with survivors of abuse, particularly in children's and mental health support services. More recently she has worked on collaborative projects with the Gold Standards Framework, Marie Curie and RCGP. Tista still provides support to survivors of abuse and is involved in collaborative projects to empower women and children. Dr Luke Austen

ACCS Anaesthetics CT2, National Health Service

I graduated from The University of Oxford in 2018 and am currently a CT2 trainee doctor working in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. I have written a book about the early years of medical practice which seeks to better understand the transition from medical student to junior doctor, drawing on research and influences from a range of fields including psychology, philosophy, business, anthropology and behavioural economics. It is called The Bleep Test: How New Doctors Can Get Things Right.

Dr. Naa Okantey

GP Registrar and Medical Education Fellow, Imperial College London

I am a GP registrar in South-East London with interests in medical education and sexual health. I completed medical school in 2017 and knew even before then that GP was the life for me. The reasons for that have evolved slightly over the years but my passion for it remains the same. This year, I have had the pleasure of working as a medical education fellow in the Undergraduate Primary Care Team at Imperial College London. I see students across various years when they rotate into their primary care placements and the scope of my work is geared towards supporting their learning during this time. Next year, I go back to developing my skills in sexual health and GP and look forward to seeing how all these strands will merge together in the future. My favourite things to do outside of work are cycling around London and eating at food markets.
